A retrospective book showcasing over 10 years of location work by Newcastle born photographer Garry Hunter. Entitled ‘Trip_Transporting Grain’ – a reference to his late fathers’ activities as a member of a ships crew transporting grain across the Atlantic through the Marshall Plan post-war aid programme to Europe – and his own trips to the United States, Europe and Asia on photographic assignments. It is essentially a
journey in pictures where the images set the narrative, and are shown full page with understated typography that complements, rather than overwhelms the photographs. The book, which recently won the New York 2004 Photo District News / Nikon Award for Self Promotion, is on sale at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford.
